Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, “Prayer for Rain” was called on to be performed across the country on Tuesday, January 10th 2017 at 7:30 am. Therefore, the prayer took place in all mosques and in the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations Ltd. (ADCO) and its assets.
This is in following the example of Prophet Mohammad -Peace Be Upon Him- to perform it, asking Allah -The Almighty- to bring down the rain and spread his mercy upon the country and people.
The “Prayer for Rain” can take place at any time between sunrise and sunset. People come to it with reverence and tranquility, and it is advisable to walk to it on foot if it is to be conducted at a place nearby.
The Imam, Sheikh Alsayed Abdo fronted a large number of staff including executives, managers, administrative employees, and different working parties to perform the Prayer at the company’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The speech prepared to be said on this occasion highlighted the importance of the rain as it is the origin of all living beings, and showed how it is a blessing and “mercy” from the Almighty Allah. This was indicated with reference to a number of related versus from the Holy Qura’an and the Hadith that was passed on to us from Prophet Mohammad -Peace Be Upon Him- .
The speech also clarified that praying Allah, and asking him for the rain is done in following the example of Prophet Mohammad -Peace Be Upon Him- in that. It also explained a number of things that lead to being blessed with it as performing the related prayer called: “Prayer for Rain”, paying Sadaqah (Worshipping Allah by voluntary offering, whose amount is at the will of the giver), and frequently seeking forgiveness from Allah -The Almighty-. Therefore, rows being organized that morning for prayer were witnessed, and hands were raised seeking Allah’s mercy to shower us with it.
