On November 11th, 2016, marking the 10th anniversary of the Walk for Life, 500 ADCO employees raised the company banner and participated in walking the 5km distance around Yas Marina Circuit. This annual event in the battle against diabetes drew a crowd of around 20,000 and highlighted the need for a healthy lifestyle if the spectre of diabetes is to be defeated. This year’s Walk for Life, titled ‘Walk On’, featured entertainments such as face painting, unicyclists, balancing acts, bands and DJs. There were also kiosks promoting healthy eating.
ADCO continually acknowledges promoting the wellbeing and wellness of its employees through events such as the “Walk for Life”, and by supporting this vision, the company’s Medical Services Division strives to provide health education to the ADCO community through various campaigns and lifestyle modification programs. ADCO’s participation in the Walk for Life event therefore expresses the company’s solidarity to solve a major health problem that the world is now facing. Participants on the walk were reminded that obesity and poor diet are significant factors in the high prevalence of diabetes worldwide, and that it is important to lead an active life whilst eating healthily in the fight against this disease.
