In order to achieve ultimate recoveries of 70% in ADCO’s reservoirs and to sustain the required production levels multiple EOR techniques and projects will be required. Identifying, defining and deployment of these technologies requires careful quantification of EOR targets and a comprehensive research and study program to ensure optimized EOR deployment.
The following technologies are being evaluated:
- Enhanced Water Flooding (low salinity water).
- HC miscible gas injection.
- Non-HC miscible gas injection such as CO2 (ADCO has already conducted its first CO2 pilot, the results of which will be fed forward into future projects. The pilot was implemented successfully and a number of technologies were tested to create and test a portfolio of CO2-EOR implementation strategies).
- Surfactant injection, foam and chemical polymer flooding.
Furthermore, Enhanced Gas Recovery (EGR) technologies are also being evaluated including water and N2 injection for pressure maintenance.
Identification of the technical requirements needed for the successful implementation of EOR pilots has been addressed. Prioritization of the EOR pilot projects is ongoing & Standard Operating Procedures are being issued to define appropriate surveillance plans. A number of research projects are also underway with academia in the UAE, UK and the USA which are being managed by ADCO.
